About me
Shelley's belief is that every persons' lived experience impacts how they communicate ~ when we understand those experiences, we can solve any problem, together.
Extensive experience with people with disabilities
Along with a Bachelors degree in Community Health from Portland State University and Masters in Business Administration from University of Portland, Shelley has spent most her life to helping people in the Inellectual and Developmental Disabilities community. From volunteering at summer camps starting at age 14, then working in behavior classrooms for Portland Public Schools, to supporting adults out in the community and teaching life skills. Through that experience she has learned that kindness, support, and commincation are key to seeing improvement in challenging behaviors.
My Take
It is so difficult to navigate in a world where people don't understand you. People around you are constantly telling you what to do, explaining things, or using verbal communication that you don't understand. Those of us that are typically developed struggle understanding what our friends and loved ones are going through. Through an exploration process I can help you discover why the person you are close is acting the way they are and what they are trying to communicate. Together we can help make the lives of those we love happy, successful, and fulfilled.
